Episodic
Overview
For the grand finale of our YouTube series "Because it’s Mercedes-Benz," we were commissioned by teamx to create a concluding episode that stands out as a cinematic highlight. To give the journey of Becky and Elly a worthy send-off, we decided to blend automotive history with pop-culture storytelling. The legendary Mercedes-Benz C111 served as our "time machine," taking the audience on one last adventure that celebrates the brand's heritage and its leap into the future.
Challenges & Approach
The main challenge was to capture the nostalgic essence of classic time-travel cinema while maintaining a modern, high-end look. We leaned heavily into cultural references and utilized specialized anamorphic optics to achieve a true cinematic aspect ratio. This technical choice was crucial to create the wide, epic feel of a feature film. By combining the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the C111 with these high-quality lenses, we were able to bridge the gap between different eras and deliver a visually immersive experience.
The result
The final episode serves as a powerful tribute to both the series and the Mercedes-Benz legacy. The cinematic look, achieved through anamorphic filming, elevated the production value to a professional movie standard, resonating deeply with the YouTube community. It provided a nostalgic yet forward-looking conclusion for Becky and Elly’s journey, generating high emotional engagement and marking a successful milestone in our collaboration with teamx.
