Overview
For the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz CLA, we embarked on a high-speed production tour across multiple manufacturing sites. The goal was to document the birth of the vehicle—from battery production in Kamenz to final assembly in Rastatt. We produced four individual location films and one comprehensive highlight film, capturing the intricate journey of how this modern icon is built. Our objective was to showcase the scale and precision of Mercedes-Benz’s global production network through a cinematic lens.
Challenges & Approach
This project felt less like a traditional shoot and more like a tour. We spent days on the road, moving constantly between sets and cities to stay on schedule. To maintain a consistent, high-end look across vastly different industrial environments, we relied on our signature anamorphic optics. This allowed us to transform functional factory floors into visually stunning, cinematic spaces. Using macro lenses to highlight technical precision and wide anamorphic shots to capture the sheer scale of the assembly lines, we successfully unified the different locations into one cohesive visual story.
The result
The result is a powerful series of films that humanize and elevate the manufacturing process. The "Highlight Film" became a key asset in communicating the technological advancement of the new CLA. By successfully managing the intense "on tour" logistics and delivering five high-quality films in a very short window, we proved our ability to handle large-scale, multi-location industrial productions without losing our artistic, cinematic edge.
